Charities depend on generous donations from the public in order to continue their work. With the economic downturn of late, raising money has become a big challenge. In addition, more people than ever need the services these organizations provide. One way charities have found to raise more funds during this time is vehicle donations.
Many people have cars that are not worth very much, or may have broken down and aren’t worth fixing. Oftentimes it isn’t worth the effort to try and sell the vehicle and auto salvage companies pay very little and sometimes even charge you to tow a car away. A fantastic alternative is to donate your car to charity. Not sure what to expect or how to go about the vehicle donation process? Don’t worry – it’s easy. All you have to do is get in contact with your charity of choice. Once you’ve made contact, they will normally pick up your vehicle and sell it at a public auction. Then, usually with 2 months you will get the paperwork so that you can claim a deduction on your taxes for your generous contribution to the charity.
Want to know what kinds of vehicles you can donate when participating in a charity’s vehicle donation program? In addition to cars, trucks, vans and SUVs – there are a myriad of other types of vehicles accepted. Examples of other vehicles include boats, motorcycles, RVs and even airplanes! When you decide on a charity to donate your car, they will pick up your vehicle within 72 hours of being called – at no cost to you. In fact, most of the time you won’t even need to physically be there when your car is being picked up.
Every type of vehicle – no matter what make, model or condition – are ideal candidates as car donations. Therefore, next time you find yourself with a vehicle you no longer want or need, donate it to your favorite charity – Not only will you feel good about yourself for helping others out, but you’ll get a nice break on your taxes.

Nowadays, just about anything may be donated to charity. Even hair can be donated. Well of course, there are certain requirements to be followed in order to qualify quality hair. This is to ensure that donated hair would meet the stringent demands of its benefactors.
One might wonder what donated hair is used for. It is primarily used to make wigs for cancer patients who are undergoing therapy and are losing their hair. Some wigs are also being used by those suffering from chronic hair loss.
Although healthy hair may be sold, a lot more are opting to donate their hair to charity to greatly benefit those with cancer. It is a token that will definitely be well appreciated and well used.
The general criteria set by charities for those willing to donate their hair is fairly simple. First, most charities accept hair which is at least 10 inches in length from tip to tip. Charities ask that donors bundle hair up in a ponytail or a braid and have them pack it clean and dry. Chemically treated hair is accepted as long as it is not dry or damaged. Nonetheless, virgin hair (never permed, treated, or colored) is the best hair to make wigs from. Charities accept all kinds of hair color as long as other requirements are met. But it is commonly observed that brunettes and blondes are the rarest donations received.
Although there are no guarantees that all donated hair will be used to make wigs for those with cancer, following the guidelines set by charities accepting hair donations will certainly bring you closer to helping a cancer-stricken individual. Hair that does not meet the requirements set by the charities is usually sold to other industries.
The cost of making wigs may range from 00 to 00 apiece, considering the tedious job of making them look and feel as real as possible. Charities usually cover the expenses needed in producing the wigs and having donated healthy hair is equally as important in making them.
